My Thoughts (originated as a comment on Devil’s Playground Facebook) I wanted to expand upon a bit.

We have this vicious cycle in the United States society; stereotyping and then believing in those very stereotypes we created. We also have this horrific thing called cyclic behavior. Our behavior and views on sex, sexual relationships, and pregnancy are so askew it’s a wonder any of us are even remotely “normal.” The example men like Huckabee set forth is that it is perfectly normal to attack, alienate single mothers. Actually, it’s not just men but women too; Palin and her comments around Bristol. Best quoted from one of the comments on the news link,

“Funny how he omits Bristol Palin — a teen role model? He probably applauds Bristol for not having had a dreaded abortion, even though she was completely immature and ill-prepared for single parenthood. But a singularly mature, responsible adult like Natalie Portman who may have a child out-of-wedlock (“lock” being the operative word), and in a meaningful relationship, is an anathema. Is he channeling Dan Quayle’s Murphy Brown tirade? More GOP hypocrisy. “ gberger

It definitely is hypocrisy. Why are they not going after the men who impregnate the women that they are so quick to belittling? Last time I checked, it took two people to get a woman pregnant. (That is of course if you’re not counting IVF and the single woman) MEN are JUST AS responsible as women to protect their relationship, investments, and future. It takes approximately 30 seconds to wrap your junk, it takes 18+ years to raise a child. But the responsibility usually falls on a woman. This, to the men reading this, is not slamming men. It is statistically proven.

Another cycle to think about: Funding and Education:
Men are just as ill educated as women; and it starts from puberty on for either gender. Parents do not talk to their children, candid and openly, about sex. They leave it up to the educational systems to. Unfortunately, the school systems rush over it, leaving a lot to question and a lot up for interpretation. Our children end up teaching each other. I believe, Mr. Huckabee, that we should be attacking the sociological mind structure, and not the women alone. Because, if you
are going opting to attack the women… you can’t just pick and choose your targets. Ms. Bristol “I’m single, married, single, can’t make up my mind” Palin needs to be apart of your tirades. It is unfortunate that our society’s other cyclic pattern is to only focus on the negative.

Recent budget cuts of federal funding to places like Planned Parenthood. “Planned Parenthood clinics use Title V funding to provide cervical and testicular cancer tests, breast exams, screens for HIV and other sexually-transmitted diseases as well as birth control, including the morning after pill, which some pro-life groups say is a form of abortion because it can prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.” (

Would someone please answer me WHY ON GOD’S GREEN EARTH would we:

A. CUT FUNDING that PREVENTS pregnancy and assist with sexually transmitted disease.
B. THEN bash women who get pregnant out of wedlock?

Funding should be a question directed towards mothers, funding needs to be corrected with absentee fathers. We are so quick to judge a single mom, we are so quick to belittle the use of welfare, health care or food services. How come we’re not quick to judge men who run (as fast as a tracked dog can) and hide from their responsibilities? Men should be held in the same regard. Men should be held accountable as well. Women would not need the “system” if men stood up and did the right thing.

BOTH genders are messed up, because society’s “evolution” has become a convoluted mess. Our society is olive oil, with Republicans on the right arm, Liberals on the left arm, pulling and tugging. I don’t get the ideals our “leaders” are putting forth. I think the lyrics to Whitey Ford Sums it up:

Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom who said he was in love
He said don’t worry about a thing baby doll I’m the man you’ve been dreamin’ of
But three months later he said he won’t date her or return her call
And she sweared god damn if I find that man I’m cuttin’ off his balls
And then she heads for the clinic and she gets some static walkin’ through the doors
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner, and they call her a whore

God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
‘Cause then you really might know what it’s like to have to choose
Then you really might know what it’s like [x4]

    1. You’re welcome Ms. Thang. I was seriously rolling it over and over in my head yesterday. I was totally frustrated, slighted and angry over his words. Best way to purge… write write write.

  1. I was watching a news report last night about the idiot Governor in Wisconisin defunding Planned Parenthood as part of his “budget” plan. Other GOP Governors are trying to do the same thing, even after EVERY study that has ever been done….shows that the numbers of abortions will go UP if they succeed with this plan. They completely overlook that only 2% of PP’s services even involve abortions. BUt these morons do not give a rip about the remaining 98% of services that are provided….they only want to defund abortions….even though their actions will lead to more abortions…… Damn its challenging trying to explain this logic to my teenager.

    1. It isn’t so hard to explain to a teenager, if you’ve started from infancy. I’ve been talking open and candidly to my son about sex, safe sex, abstinence, etc. Sure, now that he’s a teenager, he’s a bunch more uncomfortable talking to *me*. However, he does go to my husband and our roommate (like a big brother) and talks with them.

  2. Don’t you think that perhaps the negative energy that is created when you call yourself unloving names, is also created when you call others unloving names. It is always the easiest path to find ways that we differ with others. Much harder and more rewarding to find ways that we are alike.

  3. Of course this logic doesn’t make sense…it’s coming from a politician.

My husband and I were having this discussion the other day. Most politicians have spent the better part of their lives being politicians ad they don’t know what it’s like to be the people whose lives are affected by their decisions.
